Hi, I'm Loren

If you’re interested in pursuing your human right to the highest attainable health, you’ve come to the right place! Here, I’ve distilled both medical and scientific topics into terms the everyday person can understand. As an MD/PhD student studying to become a medical doctor and public health expert, I want to make medical knowledge accessible to the general public so anyone can be informed about their condition, nutrition, medication, alternative treatment options, and the latest scientific discoveries. Take agency over achieving your best life by being educated in all things health and wellness.

Meet The Girl

I am a half Cuban half Indo-Trinidadian American born and raised in South Florida. I began my journey to understanding health and science as a graduate from Duke University with my master of science degree in Global Health. Inspired to take on a leadership position in the field, I decided to go back to school (again!) and pursue a joint MD/PhD degree at the University of North Carolina. That means by the time I graduate I will have completed 10 years of post-graduate education (plus one gap year I spent working!) and will go on to complete 3 more years of residency training to become a fully licensed attending physician with a doctorate in public health. Since not all of us want to spend 10+ years in school, I’ll do the work for you and teach you everything I know from Alzheimers to Zinc.

Behind the Name

When thinking about what to name my health and wellness education blog, I came back to the idea that health is a human right. The World Health Organization first made this claim in the preamble to the 1946 Constitution stating that, “the enjoyment of the highest attainable standard of health is one of the fundamental rights of every human being without distinction of race, religion, political belief, economic or social condition,” with health being defined as, “a state of complete physical, mental and social well-being and not merely the absence of disease or infirmity”. My goal is to support the mission of working towards the highest attainable standard of health for all by making accurate and evidence-based health information easy to access and understand.
